Liverpool Horror Club are hosting an alternative Xmas Market featuring creatives and crafters who specialise in making all manner of things which are spooky, creepy, and ghoulish! Our venue this year is the awesome Shipping Forecast, on Slater Street in the city centre.
We’ve a wicked coterie of independent stallholders who specialise in the darker side of things! If you’re a bit of a weirdo or are shopping for somebody who is ‘strange and unusual’ then you NEED to get along to this market. Please come and peruse all of the fabulous wares on offer and pick up the perfect Xmas gift for your friends, family, or yourself!
THE HORRIFIC MARKET PLACE

SANTA’S GROTTO
Each year we call out to the spirits of this festive season to summon forth the entity known as Santa Claus. And every time we have been graced with the presence of a being that isn’t a North Pole approved Santa! Undeterred, we believe you all deserve a wonderfully joyous & jolly grotto experience, so we shall begin casting runes, sacrificing elves, and preparing an opulent occult grotto fit for the King of Christmas!
Whomsoever turns up, you shall be able to visit them in the grotto and make your xmas wish! We will ask a fee of £3 to visit ‘Santa’ and receive a rubbish present.
BRING THE KIDS!
This is an all-ages family friendly event. Some children who have grown up in a horror-loving household will probably think all of this is cool. Others, who are less accustomed to such things may be scarred for life. You know what your kids can handle. Adult supervision and discretion is not only recommended but required.
A TIME FOR CHARITY
We’ll be taking the opportunity to raise funds for The Whitechapel Centre. There’ll be a raffle, donation tins, and money raised from Santa’s Grotto will be put into the charity pot too.
ACCESSIBILITY
The market is spread over 2 floors in the venue – ground and first floor. We are afraid that only the ground floor is wheelchair accessible as stairs must be used to access the upper floor. Sadly, in this instance we are constrained by the limitations of the building.
FOOD & DRINK
There will be hot drinks & a full bar. The Shipping Forecast will also have food available on the day. We wholeheartedly recommend filling your bellies after you’ve filled your shopping bags!
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM “A HORROR MARKET”
There will be many items on display which are styled around the horror genre. This encapsulates themes of gothic, spooky, esoteric, curios & oddities, which can also go hand-in-hand with aesthetics such as alt. and punk. Traders use scary & gorey imagery, as well as swear words in their work. We do not permit anything of a sexually explicit nature to be shown or sold.If all of this sounds a little too weird and distasteful – then this probably isn’t the place for you.
