OPEN CALL FOR ARTWORK SUBMISSIONS

As part of our Women In Horror event on 9th Feb, we are also hosting an art exhibition at Constellations. We invite submissions of artwork which respond to this broad theme:

TO CELEBRATE WOMEN IN HORROR AND THEIR IMPACT ON THE GENRE

The exhibition will be on display from early to mid-February – referred to as the ‘Primary Exhibition’.

On the day of the WIH event (Sat 9th Feb), additional work will be displayed (referred to as ‘Event Exhibition’).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

For the Primary Exhibition, we can ONLY accept wall mounted pieces. This includes paintings, drawings, prints, prints of digital artwork, photography and suchlike. Poetry and prose are welcome, but must be provided as a framed piece of work.

Free standing sculpture and other 3D work can only be considered for display at the Event Exhibition.

We CANNOT accept digital, multimedia, or installation work dues to additional tech requirements. Sorry!
(Artwork created digitally, and then printed & framed is absolutely fine.)

Constellations is a public space so it’s essential that work in the Primary Exhibition is deemed suitable for all ages and doesn’t have the potential to alarm or offend general public. Explicit gore, violence, or sexual content fall under this category.

During the Event Exhibition, we may have a ‘Viewer Discretion Advised’ section.  This will be reserved for artworks considered unsuitable for viewing by the general public.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Wall hanging pieces MUST be framed, or have appropriate fixings if on canvas.
  • Artwork should be not exceed 1.5m in any dimension. Our recommended submission size is a 50cm wide x70cm tall frame.
  • Please contact us to discuss how to best display of 3D work. We may be unable to accommodate large items.
  • Submit no more than 3 items of work.


HOW TO SUBMIT

Please send photos or a digital copy of artwork to chris@liverpoolhorrorclub.co.uk for consideration. Title your email “WIH: ART EXHIBITION”

Include answers to each of the 7 following points in your email:

  1. ARTIST’S NAME
  2. TITLE OF ARTWORK
  3. STATEMENT ABOUT ARTWORK (max 100 words)
  4. MEDIUM USED (also specify if you are submitting an original or a print)
  5. SIZE OF ARTWORK (final framed size, or overall footprint if 3D)
  6. IS THE ARTWORK FOR SALE (Yes/No) & PRICE.
  7. INCLUDE 1 LINK TO YOUR WEBSITE OR SOCIAL MEDIA

Please be aware that this is a submission process – not all artwork may be accepted.

IF YOU SUBMISSION IS ACCEPTED

Work being displayed at the primary exhibition should be dropped off with us before the 1st Feb.  Work for the Event Exhibition should be received by the 7th Feb.

You will be responsible for collecting your own work once the exhibition is finished.

THE SALE OF ARTWORK

We would ask a 20% commission of any artwork sale be donated to our charity of choice.

If any pieces are purchased during their inclusion in the exhibit, they should remain on display until the end of the exhibition.
