LHC present BATTLE ROYALE
The Liverpool Horror Club invite you to join us for a screening of Battle Royale at Sanctuary Bar on Sat 17 th November.
Battle Royale (2000) is a modern classic which combines cultural commentary with the type of ultraviolence rarely found outside of Asian cinema.
The premise is simple, 42 school kids (13/14yrs) are sent to a deserted island where they must fight it out until there is only one survivor.
But the story being told is so much more eloquent than meaningless slaughter. It reflects an overbearing government state terrified by an unruly younger generation. We see coming of age moments: childhood friendships are pushed beyond their limits and classroom crushes grow into love. And the killing is intense – both bloody and elegant in its brutality.
If you’re not familiar with the genre, this is a perfect gateway into extreme Asian cinema. If you’ve seen the movie before, it deserves a rewatch in the company of like-minded horror fans.
As usual, Uncle Frank Productions has created an incredible poster for the screening. Full of intricate detail and information, this poster is an absolute beauty to add to your collection. Everyone who attends will receive the A3 event poster free of charge.
